We follow the 4Ws approach to Collective Worship of Welcome, Worship, The Word and Witness.
You can use the links below to find out more about what this means at Corpus Christi Catholic Primary School.
Welcome at Corpus Christi Catholic Primary School
“Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.” Romans 15:7
When we gather together, we welcome each other as the Lord welcomes us. While Jesus lived on earth, He always welcomed anyone into His presence or to wherever He was preaching at the time. With Jesus as our example, we should never be shy about welcoming others.
Word at Corpus Christi Catholic Primary School
‘’In the beginning was the Word: the Word was with God and the Word was God.
The Word became flesh, He lived among us, and we saw His glory, the glory that He has from the Father as the only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.’’
John 1:1 and 1:14
As Pope Francis said on 4th October 2013 ”...it is the Word of God that touches hearts, converts them to God and to his logic which is so different from our own. It is the Word of God that continually renews our communities... we can all improve a bit in this respect: by becoming better listeners of the Word of God, in order to be less rich on our own words and richer in His words… We need to be receiving antennas that are tuned into the Word of God, in order to become broadcasting antennas! One receives and transmits. It is the Spirit of God who makes the Scriptures come alive, who makes us understand them deeply and in accord with their authentic and full meaning!”
We place the Word of God in our hearts, our learning and our lives.
Worship at Corpus Christi Catholic Primary School
“For where two or three gather in my name, I am there among them.” Matthew 18:20
“I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvellous works.” Psalm 9:1
The worship of God in celebration, prayer and action is at the heart of our school. We worship in a variety of different ways-
class, key stage, whole school and with our parish and Diocesan communities.
Witness at Corpus Christi Catholic Primary School
‘’Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks with compassion on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world. Yours are the hands, yours are the feet, yours are the eyes, you are his body. Christ has no body now on earth but yours.”
St. Teresa
Witness is the sending out or going forth from the Collective Worship which gives us something to hold on to that we take into our daily lives at school, with our families and in the wider community. We witness Christ in the way we treat others and how we behave. We care for and help others locally, nationally and globally in the wonderful world God has created for us.
